A Great Tip To Encouraging Strong, Psychological Health For Kids

An increasing number of children have anxiety, attention disorders, hyperactivity, emotional outbursts and aggressive tendencies.  These kids are susceptible to the same problems just bigger as adults and even drug or alcohol dependence.  There can be many causes to these problems, but one potential cause that is often overlooked is sleep.  Studies are showing that consistent inadequate sleep and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep is a huge contributor to children's mental well being.

Many parents let their children stay up too late.  Some parents allow poor sleep hygiene like too much stimulating computer or video games before bed.  The light from these technological devices interfere with melatonin production, the hormone needed for sleep.  Children (adults too) benefit from a calming, regular bedtime routine.

In Ayuveda sleep is one of the pillars to good health.  Many rejuvenating systems that benefit the body and mind occur during sleep.  True health cannot be achieved without adequate sleep.

If your child or a child you love seems to have unexplained mental and emotional lows, try to establish a regular, healthy sleep schedule.  Even if it isn't the cause, it will still benefit the child.

Stay healthy & well,
Lisa
