Do you ever feel like you are supposed to be working and taking care of something, but instead you are just banging your head against the wall? You are drawing a total blank and feel stuck? When we do not give ourselves permission to set it aside or we think we can’t leave it until it is all sorted out- often that’s exactly the problem. Sometimes the full-on focus we give to that something means we are missing out on some of the subtleties of what’s actually really happening.
When you give yourself permission to leave it, really give yourself permission. It should be an active, energetic decision, rather than a sign of defeat. By taking the action of really going off to do something else for now is often where the ‘aha’ moment is waiting for you.
When you go to the place of where you get busy doing something else, you will often find the place of where your ideas and inspiration can come from. What you choose to do should give you the sense of being absorbed, concentrating, focused on something other than the things or worries that had to be solved. It’s something to be encouraged, especially when you’re scratching your head and looking for the answer to that burning, tricky issue.
When you choose your absorbing activity, choose something you really like and enjoy doing. You don't have to be good at it, you don't have to be productive, but you do have to give your mind a rest or a change in scenery. This allows your mind to open up to new possibilities and refresh itself. You will find that answers to some of your most vexing issues will magically appear. Summer is the perfect time to take a short detour to the path untraveled.
Stay healthy &well,
Lisa
