Get Your Man To Help With The Kids - It Will Keep Him Healthy

Yes, I am a wife and mother, and yes, I am totally in favor of the husband/dad helping out around the house and with the kids.  I support it out of a sense of fairness, good role modeling for the kids, and gosh, I need the support.  A new study has shown that men who directly care for their children actually have lower testosterone levels than single men their age.  High testosterone levels have been linked to high cholesterol and prostrate cancer.  The lowered testosterone levels can protect them against certain chronic diseases as they age.

Now, I have actual proof that men helping care for their children improve their health.  So when your husband or significant other are interacting with the kids, they are really benefiting themselves.  As a good wife and mother, we want to support their health for the sake of them and the children.  But the study found that men who cared for their children three hours a day seemed have the lower testosterone levels, so the man needs to invest that much time to have the most benefit (three hours-enough time for a massage, manicure and pedicure for mom, but I digress).

Looking at this information from an Ayurvedic standpoint, it seems that the emotional benefits gained from the love and interaction with a child brings us greater health.  Things that makes us happy and support our values affect us positively.  Our mind and body are connected.

Stay healthy & well,
Lisa
